Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family and many friends of Sister Judy Calhoun who died Wednesday, December 15.  Judy started work at the GM plant in 1979.  After the Local Union was established, she joined the Women's Committee and never looked back!  She served in the elected positions of Trustee, Recording Secretary and Financial Secretary.   She chaired the Local Union CAP Committee for several years.  When the plan closing was announced in November 2005, Judy spearheaded the effort to keep the plant open by bringing in another product.  After production ceased at the plant, JUdy remained an active member of the Local until the Local Union office closed in April 2010.  Judy was appointed by the International Union to serve as Benefit Representatie for UAW Region 5 retirees, and served in that positon until the UAW Regional office closed.  She was currently serving as Financial Secretary of the UAW Local 1999 Retiree Chapter and was recently elected as Vice President of the Southwestern UAW CAP Council.  Judy spoke truth to power and was a tireless champion for workers' rights and women's rights.

Due to current COVID restrictions, the family has decided to hold a graveside service for family and close friends on Monday, December 21, 2:00 p.m., at IOFF Cemetery, 1913 Porter Avenue, Norman, OK.  The family asks that everyone respect these wishes.

Viewing open to everyone will be held Sunday, December 20, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Drive, Norman, OK, 329-0101.

I would like to inform everyone that the current lifetime pass to most national parks in the United States is $10.  This cost will increase to an annual fee of $20 on August 20; once you have purchased four $20 annual passes, you will receive a lifetime pass, or you can purchase a lifetime pass for $80.

To take advantage of the current $10 fee, you must go to the Bureau of Land Management, Five Partners Place, 201 Stephenson Parkway, Norman, telephone 405-579-7100.  They do not have the cards at this time, but you will receive a receipt for payment and the card will be mailed to you or you will be called to pick up.

Please note:  If you lose your card, you must pay the regular fee to replace.

For those in other states, contact your Bureau of Land Management for instructions on how you can purchase a lifetime pass before the August 20 deadline.
